Situated in the Palouse Hills region,
surrounded by awe-inspiring scenery and golden wheat fields,
Garfield presents an idyllic quality which is
a refreshing change from the fast paced hustle and bustle of this
modern world.
Garfield’s local businesses and
establishments including a restaurant, a tavern, a meat market,
a specialty gift shop, a quilt store, a barber shop, a beauty shop,
an attorney office and accounting office, the J.E. Love Company and McGregor
manufacturing companies and several home based businesses, provide
economic opportunities that exceed expectations.
A more attractive and friendly town would be hard to
find. Although small with a population of roughly 600,
the town is well equipped to serve the need of its
residents. High quality city services are provided
including police, fire, water, sewer, road maintenance, and
park services. The town boasts an excellent swimming
pool and park.
A compact downtown hosts a post office,
bank, attorney, accounting office, medical clinic,
beauty shop, barber, building contractor, tavern,
restaurant, a landscape service and a crafters, and
artisans gift shop North on SR 27. Just south of
town approx 1/2 mile on SR 27, is a quilt store.
Medical services are available right downtown at the
clinic.
Diverse Economy There is another crop in the
region. The Palouse is home to two of the finest universities in
this country. The University of Idaho is located 26 miles from
Garfield in Moscow, Idaho. Washington State University is located 25
miles from Garfield in Pullman, Washington. The Universities provide
and important economic force to the area. In addition high tech spin
off businesses are beginning to locate in the Palouse

reasonable pricing. Rental property is offered in a variety of
sizes from studio apartments to homes. Garfield is far enough
from urban areas to preserve its rural character and values.

Recreation
With four distinct seasons, there is
much to do from fishing to snowmobiling. The area abounds with
lakes, rivers, and wildlife. We are close to forest
campgrounds and more. Located near town is a gun club for trap
shooting and a rifle range.

Schools
High quality education is offered in partnership with the
neighboring town of Palouse.
K through 12 education is offered by a school system
that is recognized for its excellence. Education is
offered through a cooperative agreement with the town of
Palouse. Palouse is located nine miles from Garfield.
The high school is located in Palouse while the
elementary and middle schools are located in Garfield. Both
Garfield and Palouse have elementary schools. Classes are
small which affords individual attention to
the needs of the student.

Water and sewer are provided by the town at reasonable rates.
Avista provides electrical services. Telephone is provided by
Verizon with fiber optics. Dialup, high speed cable, and high
speed wireless connections are available in town.
Major
Highways State Highway 27 runs north
and south through Garfield providing convenient access to Spokane
Valley, City of Spokane, Pullman and Lewiston/Clarkston.
Access to the interstate highway system is available within a short
drive of Garfield.

Citizens Ladow Court is our newly
constructed 16 unit assisted living facility. Within a short
walk of the facility are medical facilities, post office,
restaurant, and grocery store.

well as our own medical clinic in town, Garfield is within a half
hour drive of three area hospitals. Whitman Hospital and
Medical Center in Colfax, WA; 18 miles, Gritman Medical Center in
Moscow, ID; 26 miles, and Pullman Memorial Hospital in Pullman, WA;
26 miles.
